About Us

Marton Mills was founded in 1931 as a textile manufacturer but changed from predominately knitted production to a weaving base in 1980 in response to a changing market. As a family-owned and managed business, pride is taken with every order, independent of size, to ensure we meet our aim of weaving high quality, good value fabrics which are fit for purpose and delivered on time.

The production, sales and administration facets of the company are based at one site to ensure accurate and consistent tracking of orders as they pass from one production stage to the next through the mill. Whilst considerable fabric stock is held to provide the best possible service to customers through next-day-delivery, yarn stocks are carefully managed to ensure that we are able to react rapidly to orders of particular customer specification.

The latest technology is used in the production process, through investment in the powerful and efficient VTA warping machine and a combination of Sulzer and Somet looms. Through this flexible integration of weaving machines, we are able to produce a wide variety of fabrics, ranging in composition from synthetic to natural, and in structure from plain weaves and twills to tartans, checks and stripes.

Whilst this website gives the opportunity to view our range of fabrics, there is no substitute for the tactile properties of cloth.
